There was an article in our local newspaper that Missouri's House of Representatives decided that they weren't going to have a official State Historical Dog. A couple 4th Grade humans had asked Rep. Jason Brown, Republican from Platte City to honor Seaman, the Newfie who accompanied Lewis and Clark on their trip across the USA 200 human years ago.
I want to quote what Rep. Jake Zimmerman, Democrat from Olivette, MO had to say:
"Do we need a state historical dog?" Zimmerman said. "Really, can't we just say it's enough?"
And then the article quotes another Representative, Vicki Englund, Democrat from St. Louis:
"If we're going to have an official dead dog of Missouri, we should make sure it actually came to Missouri,"
Pup, talk about insensitive!
I have not been asked to give a comment yet, but I will give you a preview: "Representatives Zimmerman & Englund are stupid!"
And then I will go on to offer to be the State Official Current Dog. I don't know why they'd turn me down.

Seriously? The humans must be overthrown
We have lots of relatives in MO who will surely support you. (Some even have sibes.)
Wirey woofs,
Jake and Just Harry
Humans, Oy. Lewis and Clark made it out this way. They should recognize the dog, as well as any goats they might have had with them.
Us Yorkettes and Yorksters are a pretty powerful contingent for any pawlitical figure. Just woo the woof and we're there in support.
(PS - thanks for the compliment, Tubey. You always DO make my heart flutter!)

You know, you can come to date night if you would like. I will be putting up more details this weekend.
